Description Extended Information

Forces of Valor 85006 US Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk Medium Lift Utility Helicopter - Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq, 2003 (1:72 Scale) "Obsolete weapons do not deter."
- British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher

The Black Hawk is the Army's front-line utility helicopter used for air assault, air cavalry, and aeromedical evacuation units. It is designed to carry 11 combat-loaded, air assault troops, and is capable of moving a 105-millimeter howitzer and 30 rounds of ammunition. First deployed in 1978, the Black Hawk's advanced technology makes it easy to maintain in the field. In addition, modified Black Hawks operate as command and control, electronic warfare, and special operations platforms.

Pictured here is a 1:72 scale replica of a US Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter which participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, the liberation of Iraq, in 2003. Sold Out!

Historical Account: "Let Freedom Ring" - The 2003 invasion of Iraq by the United States, Britain, Australia, Denmark, and Poland officially began on March 20th, 2003. U.S. President George W. Bush stated that the objective of the invasion was "to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein's support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people". In preparation, 100,000 U.S. troops were assembled in Kuwait by February 18th. The United States supplied the vast majority of the invading forces, but also received support from Kurdish troops in northern Iraq. The invasion of Iraq encountered immense popular opposition.

Between January 3rd and April 12th, 2003, 36 million people across the globe took part in almost 3,000 protests against the Iraq war. Even though most of the world disagreed with the invasion, most of the American public supported the invasion based on a poll in March of 2003. The 2003 invasion began the Iraq War.
