Dragon DRR60506 US Willys Jeep with .50 cal Heavy Machine Gun Twin Pack (1:72 Scale)
"In war there is no second prize for the runner-up."
- General Omar Bradley
Developed by the Quartermaster Corps, the jeep and other motor transport vehicles were transferred to the Ordnance Department in August 1942. Despite its lightweight, the jeep could perform a variety of functions, including towing a 37mm antitank gun over a 7% grade. Unencumbered, the jeep could climb a 60% grade, and was capable of attaining speeds in excess of 60-mph on a level highway. It could ford a stream 18-inches deep, even when fully equipped and loaded. It had a cruising range of approximately 300 miles on 15 gallons of gasoline. Operated by a crew of two, the jeep had a space in the rear for equipment or additional personnel.
As with the initial Dragon Armor release, the second 1/4-Ton 4x4 Truck set features two complete model vehicles inside. This time each vehicle comes equipped with a .50-cal M2 heavy machine gun on a pedestal mount. The pedestal mount is finely detailed, and the weapons even come with their associated .50-cal ammo boxes. It isn't easy making such a diminutive vehicle in this scale, but these Dragon Armor vehicles are rich in detail. Utilizing Dragon's newest technological innovations, the vehicles are reproduced with a sophisticated degree of detail. Each vehicle in the set bears different US Army unit markings for extra variation. Fully built-up and pre-painted, these two miniatures are bristling with detail and now bristling with machine guns too!
